WHAT THINK YE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST?

Friday, April 28, 2006

“Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I…” Psalms 61:2b

O great God of the universe, great in power and word, take heed, turn your ear to me, your servant of dust. For apart from You I can do nothing (John 15:5), and I am but a piece of chaff blown by the wayward winds of this terrestrial kingdom. Let your eyes fall upon me in compassion and mercy, for I am needy and forsaken. Draw me into Your bosom and shelter me with Your majestic hand. You are the Rock, great and mighty, solid and faithful. On You my life is built, my hope is layed, my feet are grounded; but now I feel so far off. I am caught in the sands of sin and complacency, fear and worry. My feet continue to stumble, and my legs give out from under me. Without Your swift mercy I will surely go down to the pit. Be faithful to Your promise to finish Your work in me. Draw me up to You. Lead me from the pebbles of weights and sin to the Great Cornerstone. Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I! You have done it in the past, please answer me again. I remember how you saved me from the enemy before, show Your power again. O great pleasurable Joy, in You only is there infinite satisfaction. Let me taste of Your sweet waters again and let me feast yet again on the food of Your Word. Hear my prayer Great Sovereign of the “heavens and the highest heavens” (1 Kings 8:27). In Your great love answer me.

PRAY!

Ya'll be in prayer for a dear family that I have known my entire life. The youngest daughter (5 girls, 1 boy) is my age and we grew up together. She actually was my kindergarden girlfriend . Well two days ago I their father passed away. He just found out that he had cancer last week. He went to John Hopkins and had radiation therapy. Well do to the intense amount of pain he was in and the radiation.....it was too much for his heart. The second to youngest daughter found him. She was actually sleeping on the floor in the room with him to watch him because the mother was in another room sleeping because she was sick. The daughter heard a loud sigh and then nothing. Three of the kids attempted full CPR while another one kept the mother in another room and didn't tell her what was happening until the ambulance got there. It is total devastation for Mrs. Donna (the mom). All of the kids are still in shock. Three of the daughters are pregnant (including the one my age) and the second youngest daughter is not yet married. This made them even more distressed. They all looked up their father for spiritual guidance, including the sons-in-laws (which three of them are in the ministry- Mr. Jack was a pastor).

Please, please pray for them. Pray that God will comfort their hearts and grant them peace. I believe that Mr. Jack was a true believer, so I rejoice in his freedom to now worship our King unhindered and without end! But I grieve with the family over their loss. This is God's will and His timing and will work together for the good of the saints, but we don't understand it. BUT they can trust Him through it.

Also this hit pretty hard because it was kinda near to home and Mr. Jack was 3 years younger than my dad is now. (which was one of my first thoughts.) This is very sobering!

Our only solidarity and hope is CHRIST. I will trust in Him. You must trust in Him!

"May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

May he send you help from the sanctuary
and give you support from Zion!
May he remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices!
                         Selah

May he grant you your heart's desire
   and fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!

Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with the saving might of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand upright.

 O LORD, save the king!
May he answer us when we call."

- Hosea 6

I found these quotes on a sister's xanga and they really hit home. Christ is truly our all sufficiency. He is our salvation! For those at Bible Study last night: Remember "He who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light!"

What has been like water from the well of Bethlehem to you recently? Love, friendship, spiritual blessing? Then at the peril of your soul you take it to satisfy yourself. If you do, you cannot pour it out before the Lord... If I hold spiritual blessings or friendship for myself, they will corrupt me, no matter how beautiful they are. I have to pour them out before the Lord, give them to Him in my mind, though it looks as if I am wasting them, even as David poured the water out on the sand, to be instantly sucked up.
Oswald Chambers

Avoid all security as to the present. If you have anything that you prize very highly,
hold it very loosely for you may easily lose it. Hold everything earthly with a loose hand, but grasp eternal things with a deathlike grip. Grasp Christ in the power of the spirit; grasp God, who is your everlasting portion and your unfailing joy. Of everything on earth, it is wise for us to say, "This is not mine to keep." It is essential to say this and to realize that it is true, for everything here is temporary...You must keep all earthly treasures out of your heart; let Christ be your treasure, and let Him have your heart.
Charles Spurgeon
